Why Stay at Shanghai Disney Resort Hotels?

Convenient Access to Attractions

Guests staying at Shanghai Disney Resort hotels enjoy three exclusive benefits: Priority Access (up to one hour early entry to Shanghai Disneyland), complimentary hotel-to-park shuttle buses/boats, and free parking.

Priority Access for 1 hour is prime time—you can knock out all the hottest attractions during this hour.

For guests with 1-night stays including breakfast, after tackling the popular rides early, you can return to the hotel for a leisurely buffet breakfast and even have a chance to meet Disney friends.

For guests with 2-night stays, you can also head back to the hotel in the afternoon to rest and recharge before heading back to the park for fireworks and shopping.

The breakfast buffet restaurant at the resort hotel is Lumi's Kitchen, themed after Beauty and the Beast.

Hotel guests access the park through a separate security checkpoint at Disney Town, which is much less crowded—no need to compete with Early Entry pass holders.

Free Luggage Storage

Storing luggage at the park costs approximately 80 yuan, while Disney hotel guests can store luggage for free after check-out.

You can also choose to have your luggage delivered to the Visitor Center at the Disneyland entrance. After a full day of fun, you can head straight out with your suitcase without having to return to the hotel to retrieve it.

Shop till you drop

Both hotels feature shops on their first floors, so you can start shopping before even entering the park. Plus, you can purchase exclusive items—the kind you'd need to win a lottery draw to buy inside the park.

If you buy souvenirs inside the park but don't want to carry shopping bags while exploring, you can use the complimentary merchandise pickup service. Items can be delivered to the park entrance or the shop at your hotel.

Various Entertainment Activities

Both hotels feature swimming pools, children's playrooms, and multiple restaurants. Daily activities offer plenty to explore, keeping both adults and kids entertained for half a day.

During check-in, children can watch Disney animations in the lobby, making it easy to keep them occupied.

Immersive Disney Atmosphere

The resort hotels offer an even more enchanting experience, transforming you into a prince or princess the moment you step inside and immersing you in a fairy-tale world. A new proposal package has recently been introduced—perfect for those planning a special moment.

At the Disneyland Hotel, you might randomly encounter Mickey and his friends. The bedside in your room features a “fireworks display,” the lobby offers live Disney music performances, and the public area balcony provides views of the park's fireworks.

The hotel's breakfast buffet restaurant is Lumière's Kitchen, themed after Beauty and the Beast.

During meals, Disney friends visit each table for interaction.

Toy Story Hotel is sure to be a favorite among Toy Story fans, brimming with Toy Story elements.

In the garden, you'll find giant statues of Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and the Three-Eyed Rocket Launch Pad. Walking through the brightly colored hotel, you'll feel like you've become one of Andy's toys, stepping into the world of toys.

Sunshine Café serves breakfast buffet at Toy Story Hotel. While Disney characters don't interact here, the menu features various Toy Story-themed dishes.

For a more hassle-free and immersive Disney experience, consider staying at a Disney hotel for one or two nights—it will significantly elevate your visit.

Why is Shanghai Disneyland Worth Visiting?

1) The Newest Disney Park with Cutting-Edge Technology

Shanghai Disneyland is currently the newest Disney park in the world.

Although Disney recently announced plans for its seventh park in Abu Dhabi last week, Shanghai Disneyland remains the newest and most technologically advanced destination.

Especially Pirates of the Caribbean and the newly opened Zootopia area last year—the technology in each is truly impressive, which we'll cover in detail later.

2) Vast Scale and Diverse Attractions

Shanghai Disney Resort is the second-largest Disney resort in the world, surpassed only by Walt Disney World in Orlando, USA.

Shanghai Disney is truly massive, featuring 8 themed lands, 2 hotels, and an accompanying Disney Town.

Every time I visit Shanghai Disneyland, my daily step count easily hits 20,000. So if you want to fully experience Shanghai Disneyland, I recommend planning for two days.

3) Abundant Duffy Family Elements

When people think of Shanghai Disneyland now, the first thing that comes to mind is undoubtedly our Lingna Belle.

Most members of the Duffy family originated as IPs derived from Disney's Tigger, but their presence at Shanghai Disneyland is undoubtedly the strongest.

There are several dedicated Duffy shops in Qibao alone, not to mention the endless stream of new merchandise, seasonal performances, and annually changing costumes...

As a longtime Disney fan, I personally prefer the classic IPs. But the Duffy family merchandise is just too adorable—I've ended up filling a whole cabinet over the years. So for Duffy fans, Shanghai Disneyland absolutely delivers.

4) Endless Merchandise to Shop Till You Drop

Merchandise at all three Asian Disney parks is worth buying—new items drop frequently, and designs are consistently on point.

Shanghai Disney's offerings uniquely blend Chinese elements, letting you snag items like xiaolongbao-themed Chip ‘n’ Dale or Shanghai-inspired Mickey and Minnie.

The Duffy family also releases annual Mid-Autumn Festival and Lunar New Year collections. Just recently, they launched a blue-and-white porcelain series.

I doubt many visitors leave Shanghai Disney empty-handed.

5) Abundant Seasonal Events

Limited-time seasonal activities are held throughout the year, offering unique surprises for every season.

Past Seasonal Event Schedule (Subject to Actual Activities)

Here's a rough timeline of annual events for reference. All photos are from previous years.

Spring

Springtime Activities: Colorful Celebration Parade, Spring Bloom Viewing.

Princess Month: Meet rare princesses and princes, plus Zootopia-themed activities to explore.

Marvel Month: Encounter rare superheroes.

Summer

Pixar Month, featuring rare appearances by Pixar friends.

Summer events: the castle's “Water Festival” and Duffy & Friends Summer Parade.

Autumn

Duffy Moon Festival: Duffy and his friends don traditional Mid-Autumn Festival attire.

Halloween: Disney Villains Nighttime Parade, plus guests can dress up as Disney characters to enter the park.

Winter

Winter Festival: Winter Parade, Mickey Avenue Snowfall, Christmas Tree Lighting.

New Year's Eve: Grand New Year's Eve Fireworks.

Chinese New Year: Swing Dance, New Year's Limited-Edition Fireworks.

Summer events are just around the corner. They typically run from June to August, covering the entire summer vacation. Past years' highlights have included the Summer Carnival Castle Show and the Colorful Summer Parade.

Friendly reminder: Bring rain gear—the “bathhouse-style” water splashes are no joke.

Disney friends will also don their summer outfits, looking forward to meeting you.

Each year brings slight changes and little surprises to the event. What will this year hold? Stay tuned!

How to Enjoy Shanghai Disneyland with Less Hassle?

As a perennial crowd magnet drawing tens of thousands of visitors daily, both attractions and interactive experiences come with lengthy wait times.

For a smoother experience, take note of these key points:

1) Download the Official Shanghai Disneyland App

The app's primary features are undoubtedly the park map and real-time wait times, making it easy to plan your next attraction.

APP Download URL:https://www.shanghaidisneyresort.com/information/download-shanghai-disney-mobile-app

Beyond that, most park-related information can be found on the app.

For instance: ticket binding, VIP pass purchases, lottery eligibility for specific merchandise, ride height requirements, event and show schedules, shops, restaurants, service facilities, and more...

2) Plan Your Route

Planning your route is half the battle, especially for visitors aiming to experience most attractions in a single day.

Family trips, couples' outings, and friend gatherings will have different must-see attractions, so here we offer only a basic route suggestion. You'll still need to customize it to suit your group.

Recommended Route: Zootopia (Heat Seeker) - Fantasyland (Dwarf Mountain Coaster) - Treasure Bay (Pirates of the Caribbean: Battle for the Sunken Treasure) - Adventure Isle (Soaring Over the Horizon) - Tomorrowland (Tron Lightcycle Power Run) - Toy Story Land (Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin) - Mickey Avenue (Shopping/Parade/Fireworks)

3) Purchase Premium Services

Premium services include the FastPass+ and the Disney Premier Access.

FastPass+ grants access to dedicated skip-the-line lanes—the most straightforward way to bypass queues. You can purchase FastPass+ for individual attractions or opt for a FastPass+ bundle.

Recommended attractions for Premium Pass: Rocket Rods Soaring Over the Horizon Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Tron Lightcycle Power Run Battleship Galleon Raptor's Soaring Adventure

Premium guided tours offer greater convenience but come at a higher cost, making them less advisable for the average visitor.

4) Stay at a Disney hotel

Staying at Toy Story Hotel or Shanghai Disneyland Hotel grants you one-hour early park entry.

This golden hour lets you tackle the most popular attractions first, saving you hours of wait time.

The early entry lane is located separately at the Disney Town entrance, with significantly fewer people than the Early Access Card entrance.

Additionally, complimentary shuttle buses/boats run directly to the park entrance, making it convenient to return to your hotel for a rest if you tire during your visit.

5) Purchase an Early Access Pass

If the Premium Pass or Disney hotel options exceed your budget, consider the more affordable Early Access Pass, priced around ¥199 (approximately $28 USD). Note that rates may be higher on peak days.

Early Entry Passes grant admission one hour before regular opening hours, offering the same benefit as staying at a Disney hotel.

However, Early Entry Pass holders enter through the main park entrance, requiring them to arrive slightly earlier than hotel guests to queue at security checkpoints.

Early Entry Passes become available for purchase 7 days prior to the park visit date via the official mini-program. Tickets typically release between 12:00 AM and 12:10 AM.

6) Utilize the Single Rider Lane

Many popular attractions offer a Single Rider Lane, such as Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Star Wars: Hyperspace Mountain, and TRON Lightcycle Power Run. This lane typically reduces wait times by more than half compared to the regular queue.

The single-person lane is designated for filling vacant seats ahead. If you don't mind being seated separately from friends, you can queue together in the single-person lane.

7) Utilize the bag-free security lane

Security lines at Shanghai Disneyland can be lengthy. If you're traveling without a bag (carry items in your hands or stow them in your pockets), you can use the dedicated bag-free lane. During peak hours, this can save you up to an hour.

8) Off-Peak Visits

Generally, weekdays see lower visitor numbers.

You can gauge crowd levels by ticket prices and Early Bird Pass rates—higher prices indicate larger crowds.

9) Transportation Options

Driving:

Mickey Parking Lot (¥14/hour, capped at ¥112) – Requires walking across the overpass to reach ticket gates.

Disney Town Parking Lot (¥30/hour, capped at ¥240) – More expensive but closer, offering convenient entry and exit.

Taxi: Opt for traditional taxis over ride-hailing services. Proceed to the Disney taxi drop-off point (accessible only by traditional taxis, not ride-hailing). This location is closest to the ticket gates, eliminating the need to cross the overpass.

Subway: From downtown, take Line 11 to its terminal station and walk to the ticket gates.

From Hongqiao Airport/High-Speed Rail Station, take the commuter rail to Shanghai International Resort, then transfer to a bus or taxi.

10) Recommended Accommodations Nearby

Sanjian Homestay (Disney Phase II Branch)

Which attractions are worth experiencing at Shanghai Disneyland?

Shanghai Disneyland features eight themed lands: Mickey Avenue, Fantasyland, Tomorrowland, Disney·Pixar Toy Story Land, Zootopia, Treasure Bay, and Adventure Isle.

Trying to experience every attraction and show in one visit is nearly impossible. Here are some top recommendations you won't regret rushing to.

Mickey Avenue

Recommended: Disney character interactions, parade

The highlight of Mickey Avenue is the chance to meet tons of Disney friends. Those who love interacting can easily spend the whole day here.

You'll find various souvenir shops here. At Sweetheart Candy, you can buy Duffy the Bear merchandise. At M Street Shopping Arcade, you can purchase classic Disney character goods.

Dining: Mickey's Good Friends Market offers spicy hot pot, stir-fried noodles with steak, etc.; Qi's Delicious House serves crepes, cakes, and more.

Disney Character Encounters: Mickey & Minnie, Donald & Daisy, Chip ‘n’ Dale, Goofy & Pluto, Duffy & ShellieMay, Starlight & Cozy, Gelatoni & Ollie & Milly

Fantasy Gardens

Recommended: Enchanted Storybook Dreamlight

Shanghai Disney's fireworks display is spectacular and grand, especially the Avengers segment which is incredibly thrilling. Visiting Disney without seeing the fireworks would be a missed opportunity.

Fantasy Garden's other attractions are more suitable for children, and you can also find great viewing spots for the parade floats here.

Other attractions: Dumbo the Flying Elephant, Fantasia Carousel, Mickey's Clubhouse, Marvel Super Heroes Headquarters

Dining: Floral Delights, Timothy's Snacks, and other eateries

Disney Character Encounters: Mickey Mouse, Avengers heroes

Fantasyland

Recommended: Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Peter Pan's Flight

For the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, aim to ride early in the day—lines get very long in the afternoon.

This roller coaster is accessible to children over 97cm tall and offers minimal sensation of weightlessness. Along the ride, you'll glimpse the dwarfs at work in the mines, with the mine carts transporting you into the world of Snow White.

Peter Pan's Flight is another dreamlike hidden gem. Join Peter Pan on his adventure—the moment the fairy dust is sprinkled is truly moving.

The Mad Hatter's Tea Party has become a “boyfriend scolding photo spot.” You absolutely must take pictures here!

Other Attractions: The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, A Journey Through Storybook Land, Crystal Cruises, Alice in Wonderland Maze

Dining: Pinocchio's Country Kitchen serves pizza, pork knuckle rice, etc.; Old Vine Tree Restaurant offers roast beef, roast chicken, etc.

Disney Character Encounters: Disney Princesses, Winnie the Pooh and Friends

Tomorrowland

Recommended: TRON Lightcycle Power Run

Shanghai Disneyland is the first park to feature TRON Lightcycle Power Run. Enter the digital world of “TRON,” where dark turns and outdoor speed make this the second most thrilling ride in Shanghai Disneyland. If you've seen the TRON movie, you'll feel even more immersed.

Tomorrowland features a modern sci-fi vibe where you can meet all your Avengers heroes. Come nightfall, DJs at E-Space Club will get you dancing.

Other attractions: Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin, Stitch's Space Encounter, Jetpack Flight

Dining: Star Terrace Restaurant serves burgers, fried chicken, and more

Disney Character Encounters: Avengers heroes

Disney·Pixar Toy Story Land

Recommended: Soaring Over the Horizon, Woody's Roundup

Soaring Over the Horizon is arguably Shanghai Disneyland's most thrilling ride, delivering intense weightlessness—especially in the front and back rows. Fans of zero-gravity sensations shouldn't miss this Soaring adventure.

The Woody's Roundup Carnival is a hidden gem I recently discovered. I used to think it was only for kids, but who knew “Donkey Toss” could be so much fun? The music makes it even more joyful.

“Becoming a toy” lets you enter the world of toys, where you can meet your favorite Toy Story friends. The colors here are incredibly vibrant, making it perfect for photos day or night.

Disney has its own “casino” here, featuring games like Ham Pig Fishing, Alien Shooting Gallery, and Hugs for Hugs. I've played these multiple times without winning once—anyone who's succeeded, please share your secrets...

Other attractions: Slinky Dog Spin

Dining: Strawberry Bear Lunchbox offers pizza and fried chicken

Disney Character Encounters: Toy Story's Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and Rex

Zootopia

Recommended: Heat Seeker

The world's first thermal tracking experience—a must-try. Join Zootopia Police Department and follow Officer Judy Hopps to apprehend the bad sheep.

The queue area is spectacular, featuring hyper-realistic depictions of Officer Leopard and Chief Bison using cutting-edge technology.

Occasionally, entering Zootopia requires an additional queue. Purchasing the Premium Pass grants skip-the-line access to both the park entrance and the Heat Seeker experience. On busy days, the Heat Seeker Premium Pass offers the best value.

Zootopia is a brand-new area from last year, featuring 1:1 replicas of movie scenes that will delight fans.

It's packed with fun Easter eggs: drinks sold as “Pepsi-Deer,” “Moo-Year-Dairy,” and “7-Rhino”; traffic lights display elephants instead of people; even parking spots and gyms are sized small, medium, and large for different animal builds.

Though this area has only one main attraction, its thematic depth will easily keep you entertained for an hour. Don't miss the daytime-only Zootopia Life show, offering a glimpse into the daily lives of the animal residents.

Dining:

- Elephant Sweets offers assorted desserts

- Zootopia Food Court sells the movie's signature Claw-a-Bite popsicles

Disney Character Interaction: Judy Hopps from Zootopia

Treasure Bay

Recommended: Pirates of the Caribbean: Battle for the Sunken Treasure

This is personally my favorite attraction at Shanghai Disneyland. The combination of projection technology and massive screens will genuinely make you gasp “wow” during the ride.

The large ship's mechanism ensures highly efficient queuing for this attraction, with wait times typically under 30 minutes. The finale features two randomly selected grand endings, adding an exciting twist.

Treasure Bay is brimming with pirate-themed elements. During Halloween, pirates roam the area “plundering” visitors, and you can even bring your Disney character plushies to join the “pirate dance party.”

Other Attractions: Splash Mountain, The Wreck of the Lone Star, Explorer's Canoe

Dining: Barbossa's Grill offers pork ribs with rice, steak fried noodles, etc.; Tujunga Flavors serves turkey drumsticks

Disney Character Encounter: Captain Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean

Adventure Isle

Recommended: Soaring Over the Horizon

This has long been a top attraction at Shanghai Disneyland. Before the opening of Heatseeker, it was always the first ride guests rushed to after waking up early to enter the park.

Embarking on a global journey with Grandma Thunderbird, I was particularly struck by the scent of fresh grass on the African savanna.

Adventure Isle also hosts the attraction with the longest wait times in the entire park—consistently over 300 minutes—which is meeting Lingna Belle. Many guests who love interactions purchase Early Access tickets just to meet Lingna Belle. She truly delivers an emotional experience—no wonder she's the top attraction.

Other attractions: Adventure Camp, Thunder Mountain Rapids

Dining: Duffy's Friends Celebration Hall offers chicken leg rice, grilled fish, etc.

Disney Character Encounters: Lingna Belle, Chip ‘n’ Dale, Kevin from Up, Doodles, and Little Ro

Which Shows Are Worth Seeing at Shanghai Disneyland?

Beyond the must-see fireworks and seasonal performances, Shanghai Disneyland offers several standout shows. Disney productions—don't miss them.

Mickey's Enchanted Storybook

At Hong Kong Disneyland, I especially loved this show, though the performances there feature Cantonese dialogue, so the experience at Shanghai Disneyland feels even more immersive. Enjoy beloved Disney songs up close and sing along with 23 cherished Disney friends.

The performance is located on Mickey Avenue. Please note that entry is only permitted with a reservation made via the app. Arriving early allows for better seating, though you may also opt to purchase a VIP pass for priority entry and prime viewing spots.

Storm Rising: Captain Jack's Spectacular Stunt Adventure

A must-see for Pirates of the Caribbean fans, featuring an immersive performance with acrobatics and dynamic set changes. Enjoying the air-conditioned comfort here during summer is also quite pleasant.

Other Performances

Frozen Sing-Along is best suited for children, as Queen Elsa remains a favorite among young audiences.

Stitch's Space Encounter also appeals to kids, featuring real-time interaction with Stitch.

Last summer's limited-time Rhythm Adventure is highly recommended—let's hope it returns this year.

2025 Shanghai Disney Christmas Season

This year's Shanghai Disney Christmas Season has begun! Running from November 21, 2025, to January 3, 2026. For those seeking festive vibes (expect crowds!), visit the park from December 31 to January 1 to unlock the New Year's Eve fireworks show. What's fun during the Christmas season?

Scroll down 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻

Heading to Disney? For most people, snapping photos is probably one of the main things on the agenda, right? The park decorations have now been fully switched to their “Christmas edition.” They look stunning enough during the day, but when the lights come on at night, the atmosphere is absolutely magical! You'll be taking the photos of a lifetime in no time!

Little ones who love group photos, Mickey and friends, Duffy and friends have all changed into their new Christmas outfits and are waiting to welcome you!

Every night during the holiday season, Mickey, Minnie, Duffy, and Lenna Belle gather at Fantasy Garden. Are you ready to shout “Wishing you a magical Christmas” and light up the tree with them?

Mickey Avenue is bustling as ever this year, with the “Christmas Swing Dance” and “Happy Holidays, Mickey!” returning for a limited time!

Let it go~ Let it go~ Come winter, this Frozen theme song echoes in my mind. During the holiday season, you might even meet Anna, Elsa, and Olaf at the castle to receive their festive greetings~

Pick up a “Christmas Tree Scavenger Hunt Map” at the Disney Town entrance. Follow the map to find 17 Christmas trees🎄 and collect stamps. Gather all 17 stamps to receive a limited-edition Christmas pin!! What stamp collector could resist?~

Beyond the stamp hunt, Santa Claus will make surprise appearances throughout Disney Town. Kids wanting photos with him shouldn't miss this chance!

What to Eat at Shanghai Disneyland?

Park Dining

Dining within the park is convenient, with an average price per person around ¥100, including beverages.

For main dishes, I personally recommend:

- Barbeque Pork Ribs Rice from Barbossa's Barbecue (Treasure Bay)

- Pork Knuckle Rice from Pinocchio's Country Kitchen (Fantasyland)

- Sichuan-Style Fried Chicken with Potato Slices from Boo Boo's Bites (Toy Story Land)

For families or friends traveling together, consider ordering a group meal—it's quite substantial.

For snacks, I personally recommend the assorted flavored popcorn. Yes, Disney's popcorn comes in flavors like strawberry, crayfish, and curry. It might sound unusual, but it's actually quite tasty.

The turkey leg is practically a must-try upon entering the park. Other options worth sampling include corn dogs, grilled squid balls, coconut milk shaved ice, and kimchi beef wraps.

Disney Town Dining

Disney Town gathers diverse culinary options, including China's first Chez Le Crepe, Donald Duck's Happy Kitchen, Ippudo, Guimanlong, Heytea, and Grandma's Handmade, offering plenty of choices.

After dining in the town, you can re-enter the park through the secondary entrance at Disney Town, which is much more convenient than going through the main gate.

Disney Town also houses the largest Disney World Store. If you haven't finished shopping after the park closes, you can come back here for another round of purchases. You can find most of the merchandise available in the park here.

Other shops include LEGO and Pop Mart. So you can easily spend half a day exploring and dining in the town.

Final Tips Summary

Shanghai Disneyland sees heavy crowds, so plan your route to minimize wait times.

The park is vast and can be tiring on the legs—consider spreading your visit over two days.

Stay at a Disney Resort hotel for early entry privileges and complimentary shuttle service.

Download the Shanghai Disney Resort app to check real-time wait times.

Opt for Premium Access, Early Entry Pass, Solo Rider, or Bag-Free Security to skip lines.

Bring disposable rain ponchos for Thunder Mountain Rapids.

Top attractions: Heatseeker, Pirates of the Caribbean: Battle for the Sunken Treasure, TRON Lightcycle Power Run, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train

Must-see shows: Spectacular Illuminations, Mickey's Storybook Celebration

Dining options abound—highlights include Barbossa's BBQ Pork Ribs Rice, popcorn, turkey legs, and Disney Town's Chez Leffe

For shopping, we recommend Disney World Store, Main Street, U.S.A., and Disney Hotel Stores.

You may bring simple snacks and beverages into the park. Drinking water is available throughout the park.

Disney Town offers numerous dining and shopping options. You can enjoy a meal there before returning to the park.

For self-driving, park at Mickey's Parking Lot or Disney Town Parking (pricier but very close).

For taxis, take a cab to the designated pickup/drop-off point—it's the closest.

By subway: From downtown, take Line 11; from Hongqiao, take the Regional Line.

That concludes our complete guide to Shanghai Disney Resort, a park where cutting-edge technology and magical wonder intertwine.

Disney's journey of dream-making continues, with Phase II of Shanghai Disneyland already underway and seasonal events bringing fresh surprises each year. So our Shanghai Disney guide won't end here either.
