Fairy Mountain is located on the north bank of the Wu River in Wulong District, Chongqing, within the Wuling Mountain Range. It is a National AAAAA Tourist Attraction, a National Forest Park, and one of Chongqing’s Top Ten Tourist Destinations. With an elevation of 2,033 meters, it features 330,000 acres of forest and 100,000 acres of natural grassland. The average summer temperature is 24°C, earning it the titles “The No. 1 Pasture in Southern China” and “The Switzerland of the East.” Its unique forest and grassland scenery is unmatched in Chongqing, making it an ideal summer retreat destination.

Transportation Within the Scenic Area: Mini train: 25 RMB/person, no student ticket, free for children under 1.2 meters. The sightseeing mini train only has two stops: “Starting Point → Grand Grassland → Horse Ranch → Starting Point.” There is a parking lot in front of the mini train ticket office, where both tour buses and self-driving visitors can park, then either take the mini train or walk in. The mini train does not stop at the Most Beautiful Road, so you need to get off at the Horse Ranch and walk back 300 meters.

Best Seasons to Visit Fairy Mountain
Spring (March–May): Pleasant temperatures and blooming flowers make it a great season for enjoying natural scenery.
Summer (June–August): Cool weather, perfect for a summer getaway and experiencing grassland scenery.
Autumn (September–November): Cool weather, mountains covered in red leaves, and enchanting scenery.
Winter (December–February of the following year): Fairy Mountain Forest Park receives snowfall, and you can experience winter sports such as skiing.
Suggested Touring Route
Recommended route: Fairy Mountain Scenic Area (Grand Grassland, Fairy Lake) → Furong Cave → Three Natural Bridges. Each attraction requires at least half a day, and the specific visiting time can be arranged based on your interests and schedule.

Accommodation: There are resorts, hotels, and other lodging options within the Fairy Mountain scenic area, all quite close to the three core attractions, generally about a 10-minute drive away. The scenery inside and outside the hotels is excellent, with European-style décor, though prices are relatively high.

It has a prime location, close to various attractions and with convenient transportation. A five-minute walk takes you to the treetop walk, and right outside the hotel you can catch a shuttle bus to the visitor center.

It is also recommended to stay in Fairy Town, where transportation and shopping are both convenient. It is close to the visitor center, and there are many restaurants in town where you can choose whatever you want to eat, offering good value for money.
Dining: Fairy Mountain’s specialty foods include whole roasted lamb and lamb hot pot. You can enjoy authentic Chongqing cuisine in restaurants inside or around the scenic area. However, there are not many restaurants on the mountain, and only a few small convenience stores, so it is recommended to bring some snacks with you.

Notes
Changeable weather: Fairy Mountain is at a high altitude, and the weather changes often. Please check the weather forecast at all times. In spring, summer, and autumn, the temperature difference between morning and evening is large, so be sure to keep warm.
Manage your energy: The scenic area is large, so pace yourself while exploring and avoid overexertion.
Safety reminder: Please follow the scenic area’s rules and keep your belongings safe. There are many cows, horses, and sheep on the grassland, and animals do have wild instincts. If you stand too close, cows may become aggressive, so stay safe and keep a proper distance.
Eco-friendly travel: Please help keep the scenic area clean and do not litter.
Sun protection: Fairy Mountain is at a high altitude with strong UV rays, so be sure to protect yourself from the sun on bright days.
Be cautious: Do not trust the people shouting “10 RMB/person to Fairy Mountain Scenic Area” at the entrance of the visitor center. Once you get in the car, there will be all kinds of scams. Go downstairs inside the visitor center and take the bus to the Three Natural Bridges (free), then to Fairy Mountain for 8 RMB/person. It’s a business van that is both faster and more comfortable.
